An update on our kibble bags

We know how important reducing our environmental impact is – and it’s a major part of our goal in changing the world of pet food for good. Making our kibble bag recyclable is the biggest single change we can make to get closer to our goal of making tails.com fully recyclable.

Back in February 2021, we gave you a little insight into where we were with our big bag challenge. Over the past few months, we’ve been testing new, 100% recyclable bags with thousands of our customers, and we’re well on the way to making the change for every single delivery.

Our kibble bag does a big job: it needs to protect your dog’s food during delivery, and keep it fresh and crunchy for the month. That’s why it’s important for us to make sure any changes to our packaging are both good for you, and for the planet.

Whether you’ve already received one of our new bags or not, there’s an easy way to check if it’s ready-to-recycle.

Simply check the top of your bag, and inside:

  • Each ready-to-recycle bag features instructions on the strip at the top of the bag instructing you to open the bag with scissors. Once opened, they also contain no foil layer on the inside of the packaging. You’ll need to remove the label on the front – we find cutting it out is easiest – then these bags can be given a rinse and popped into a soft plastic recycling unit at a local supermarket – find your nearest recycling point here.
  • If the bag doesn’t instruct you to open it with scissors and there’s a foil layer on the inside, this bag cannot be recycled (but please do consider reusing it at home if you can – we hear they make great potato and tomato plant bags).
