Black and white names for dogs

You’re getting a dog, and its fur is black and white? Then you have to come up with a name that will fit your new friend perfectly.

The options are quite numerous, but you may not want a generic name. You want a name that’s creative and shows just how much your four-legged friend means to you. Therefore, some creativity will likely be needed when making your final decision.

And if you just can’t find that sliver of imagination that will make you exclaim “Aha!” and clap your hands because you’ve just found the perfect name for your dog, here are a few tips to steer you in the right direction.

How to pick a name for a black-and-white dog?

We all need a dog, but naming them is incredibly important. When choosing a name for your black and white pup, you should keep in mind that the name should be clear and easy for your pooch to understand.

Relatively short names are much better because your pet will get used to them much faster. So, naming your dog something like Leonhard von Habsburg-Lothringen could be counter-productive.

Apart from that, there are two main principles to keep in mind if you want to create an awesome dog name.

Personalize it

Take up a personal approach to this issue. Choose a name that has a special meaning to you. That’s a sure-fire way to come up with a name you’re bound to like.

Additionally, the chances are high you will come up with something fairly unique, which will always be a conversation starter with other dog owners when you bring your pup to a doggy date or meet someone else during a walk in the park.

Be creative

Don’t be afraid of giving your dog a unique name. It will just show that you’ve put quite some thought into the whole process and care deeply about your pet from day one.

This ties in nicely to what we talked about in the previous part of the article – creativity in situations like this often stems from the fact that you’re going with the personal approach.

Obviously, you won’t name your dog anything stupid and mean, but if there’s a story behind its name, you can be sure people will react positively once you explain everything to them.

Pick a dog name for different breeds

While black-and-white dogs are relatively common, they appear in a variety of different breeds and a name that may fit one breed may not necessarily fit another breed equally well.

Especially if the name you’re choosing is connected to let’s say a fictional dog of a particular breed or something like that.

Let’s take a look at some of the breeds and a few examples of names for those dogs that you might find interesting.

Boston Terrier

These lovely little pups are a fairly popular breed, especially in urban areas, and the most popular names go something like this:

Bella
Rocky
Luna
Charlie
Max
Daisy
Stella
Lilly
Duke
Max
Zoe

But why not try something different? How about Cece, Clarity, Peppa, or even Maggie? Swirl, Frosting, Sprinkles, Orca or Penguin all certainly have a very unique ring to them.

Smooth Fox Terrier

Smooth Fox Terrier is another breed that comes in black and white and some of the most popular names for these dogs include:

Pepper
Zoe
Phoebe
Annie
Caesar
Gizmo
Bandit
Murphy
Beau
Gaius

If these don’t do it for you, however, names like Snoopy, Sylvester, Checkers, Stripes, or Marble could be a more interesting choice.

Corgi names

Corgis are not strictly speaking black and white because there will always be at least a little bit of tanned fur along with that. But still, we thought we should mention them and the names like:
