History of the Munchkin Ragdoll Cat

The Munchkin is the product of a spontaneous genetic mutation and was first spotted by a woman named Sandra Hochenedel in Louisiana in the 1980s. Although, there have been a few observations of this breed since the 1940s.

After Hochenedel’s discovery, the Munchkin quickly gained popularity and was introduced to the general public in 1991 in the TV show. The Munchkin Ragdoll is named after the equally adorable characters from “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”

How Does the Munchkin Ragdoll Look?

Munchkin Ragdoll cat is a medium-sized breed of domestic feline with distinctive physical characteristics.

With short legs and an elongated body, Munchkins can come in different coat patterns. Some Munchkin Ragdolls have plush coats and some have silky coats.

It is also possible for them to have short, medium, or long hair. The weight of males is between 3 to 4 kilograms and the weight of females is 2 to 3.5 kilograms.
