New Year’s Eve can be an exciting day for us humans, but sometimes it can be stressful for our pets. In this article, we’ll discuss four ways to help prepare your dog or cat for all of the loud noises that come with New Year’s celebrations.
New Year’s Eve is just around the corner. While you’re busy preparing a pot of lucky black-eyed peas, and planning for get-togethers with family and friends, it’s important to prepare for your pet’s New Year’s too. When the fireworks sound off as you celebrate with your friends and family, the loud noises can make your pet feel uncomfortable, or downright terrified. If your pet experiences situational stress during the holidays, such as fireworks on the 4th of July, it’s better to start making plans now to make sure you have a calm night with your fur friends. Here are a few ways to help your dog keep their cool and have a happy New Year’s.
1. Try To Wear Your Pet Out With Exercise
Give your dog or cat a workout during the day of New Year’s Eve! Being anxious and fearful takes energy, so lots of exercises will hopefully tire them out enough so that they will just rest for the remainder of the night. For instance, try going on a long walk or playing fetch with your dog in the park. And for cats, bring out a feather toy wand to keep not only their body active but their brain stimulated too! There is no better way to start your New Year’s Resolution of being more active than to get your pet involved!
