HOLIDAY FOODS FOR PETS – WHAT THEY CAN EAT AND WHAT TO AVOID

The time to consume our weight in holiday foods is upon us! We would bet as you go to scoop up a big heaping of that Thanksgiving deliciousness there will be a wagging tail and pitiful puppy face below you longing for some food – because let’s face it, it smells amazing. We all want some of that grub, including our furry friends.

To make your pup feel a little more included (and maybe you a little less guilty), we’ve compiled a list of some foods safe for your dog to eat, and foods to definitely avoid. Keep in mind that every dog is different, and moderation is key. Perhaps don’t let them feast like the family, but introducing a new “human food” could be a nice little Thanksgiving treat.

OKAY FOODS FOR FIDO:

  • Cooked, boneless, unseasoned turkey or chicken
  • Orange sweet potatoes
  • Raw green beans
  • Carrots
  • Apples
  • Peanut Butter
  • Cooked Eggs
  • Blueberries
  • Green Peas

NO NOS:

  • Grapes
  • Nuts
  • Stuffing
  • Gravy
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Bread or cookie dough
  • Fruit Salads
  • Pumpkin Pie, sweet potato pie
  • Applesauce
  • Alcohol, even Beer
  • Chocolate
