Keeping Your Home Clean with Pets

Many people these days do not want to have pets, especially if they have small children, for a number of reasons, but one of the main reasons is because people think that pets are dirty and will spread germs to their children. While some pets are messier and dirtier than others, there are many ways you can go about preventing the spread of germs between your kids and your furry kids. Here is the 4-1-1 so you know what kind of parasites may be living on or within your pets and some details about how to keep your home clean with pets.

First and foremost, you will want to be sure that you always keep your cabinets, countertops and other surfaces sanitized at all times. You can do so with a cleaning spray and a sponge or a paper towel. You want to take great precautions in the kitchen and bathrooms because parasites can spread the easiest in these places. This is also important, as children have more vulnerable immune systems and could get sick much easier than an adult. It is important to make sure that your pet is also medicated to prevent parasites, such as heartworm, hookworm, and roundworm and to protect against fleas and ticks. While this may sound like you’re only looking out for your dog, you are also looking out for your family as well.

You should always keep your pet’s food in closed containers so that it does not attract mice, especially during warmer weather when they are on the run. Keeping the food in a closed container will allow it to stay fresh longer and prevent it from being tracked all over the house. Keep in mind that you do not want mice or other rodents in your home, as they will climb on counters and much more in an effort to find food. They carry germs and can make you and your children very sick if you should find rodent droppings in your home.

Utilize good cleaning products to keep your home clean, as well. A good bleach cleaner is always a good way for you to kill any germs that may be lurking. Using a sponge may be good sometimes, but be sure to dispose of it as needed and replace it, as sponges are a great place for parasites to grow as well. Your best bet is to use paper toweling to clean with. If you should find that your rugs are getting dirty or you are worried that fleas may be taking up residency in them, be sure to vacuum them with a flea killing powder. It also protects your pets, especially when they’re lying on the floor.

If you follow the simple tips and tricks in this article, you will have a house that is clean and animals that are clean as well. Many people think that having a pet means having an unclean home, but that is simply not the case. You can have a clean pet and a clean house so long as you know how to balance it out. And now, you do! Good luck!
