Why a Pet Book for Christmas Makes a Great Gift

It’s official, the Christmas season is upon us. It’s been a difficult year for many, but some households have lifted their spirits by adding a new bundle of joy, affectionally known as “fur babies”. That’s why this year buying a pet book for Christmas is one of the best presents you can give yourself or a loved one, if a new furry friend has been added to the household. Perfect-Pets Explains why.

The numbers are quite staggering. The Pet Food Manufacturer’s Association has confirmed that there are now 34 million pets in the UK including 12 million cats and 12 million dogs.

Over the last 18 months, 3.2 million households in the UK have acquired a pandemic pet.

In the US, according to the 2021-2022 APPA National Pet Owners Survey, 70% of U.S. households own a pet, which equates to 90.5 million homes.

This breaks down to 69 million US households owing a dog, and 45.3 households owning a cat.

In the US just as in the UK the Pandemic has led to an increase in pet ownership. Steve King, president and CEO of the American Pet Products Association (APPA) says:

“Pets have played a central role in comforting Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic. That resulted in increased spending on pet food and supplies in 2020.”

“He added; 35% of pet owners surveyed said they spent more on their pets in the previous 12 months than in the preceding year. Gen Z and millennial pet owners led the higher spending, with 49-50% reporting they had spent more on their pets.”
