Lhasa Apso Dog Breed Information

The Lhasa Apso was mentioned in an issue of The herbalist from 1934, when it was referred to as the little lions dog.

Lhasa Apso Height

The American and European were introduced to the Lhasa Apso in the 60’s. After the war the breed was spread to Latin America, Europe, and Canada. The Lhasa Apso is classified as a miniature dog, measuring 10 to 12 inches and weighing between 13 and 18 pounds. It has a short glossy coat and afour to six inch tail.

The Dalai Lama sent some of his dogs as gifts to some American noblemen.  The Lhasa Apso was close in popularity to the English Poodle by the 1970’s. . The Lhasa Apso is a stay-at-home dog and a sight hound. It is very alert and watchful and has a strong tendency to sulk if it finds itself in a situation where it is without attention. It is not well suited for being around other dogs that are active as they tend to become overprotective and jealous of other dogs that make up the pack.
