The Great Pyrannese

The modern Great Pyrenees, being a member of the Herding Group, possesses a number of imposing characteristics, most obviously being a massive size coupled with sympathy for man.

They are rated as the most trainable of the herding dog breeds and can be trained to be excellent sheepdogs.

It is true that they do have a strong affinity for their own species and those they view as fellow canines.

Their size places them as the tallest of the herding dog breeds, and they are quick and agile wolves of the chase. French Pyrenees, being a long-lived breed, do encounter their fair share of health issues.

Pyrenees are also popular as a family pet. They are loyal and affectionate towards their families. They are also a pleasure to have in the family home.

They make a great study for a pet portrait

They would be an excellent choice of pet to have. However, it must be noted that the Pyrenees is not an indoor pet. They need a considerable amount of space to exercise themselves. If they are not exercised regularly they may find it necessary to vent their frustration and energy on your carpets and furniture.
